Gibson Pond Park

Family SESSION

"I hope these photographs serve as a timeless reminder of the incredible bond you share, even on the gloomiest of days."

I want to share a recent family session I had the pleasure of shooting at the beautiful Gibson Pond Park right here in Lexington, SC. The weather wasn't exactly on our side, with dark and gloomy clouds above us, but that was alright. We made it work and I enjoyed the time we spent together making it happen!

As we arrive at the park, the first thing we noticed was that there were more people than we had anticipated. We shot their family session on a Saturday. At the very most I was expecting a wedding, because I had come across two or three weddings in the past at the park. But what Mark pointed out to me was that these were high school seniors, dressed up, taking pictures before prom! They FILLED the entire park. Super exciting for them, but there wasn't anywhere for us to go that didn't have a crowd of shiny, sequined, and colorful dresses and tuxes with their mamas. This meant we had to be a bit creative with our location choices and find a little space until the prom-goers cleared some. Flexibility is essential in situations like these, and I'm so happy it ended up working out!

As soon as I got there, I could tell the dynamic of this family was full of fun with silly moments mixed in with love! One of the things they wanted me to notice was their shoes! They all wore Vans, and I wanted to make sure I captured that. I love that they coordinated that. Mark and Rachel were so great to work with! They trusted me and were so easy to talk and laugh with. I was able to capture their relationship in their images, and it makes me smile how sweet they are and also how silly they can be. Their daughter, Judy, has a personality that shines brighter than the sun. She knows no stranger, and is super vibrant and energetic! There truly isn't a dull moment with her, and she made the family session that much better with how she made me laugh. She wanted me to be sure to capture her handstand, and I definitely did! You can see that image below! Being able to photograph them as a family reminded me why I love my job so much - I get to capture these moments for them to have forever.

Despite the unexpected weather, and the very unexpected crowds, the Jackson Family's session turned out great! We managed to find the little nooks and corners within the park I wouldn't have thought of using otherwise. When I was going through the pictures after the session the same day, I caught myself smiling many times. I love that I was able to capture them as a family. To the Jackson family, thank you so much for allowing me to be a part of your story. I hope these photographs serve as a timeless reminder of the incredible bond you share, even on the gloomiest of days.

If you're reading this and thinking about booking a family session, remember that it's not just about the perfect weather or ideal conditions, it's about the love, connection, and beautiful moments that make your family unique! Embrace the unexpected, and let's create something magical together! Enjoy the photographs from their session!
