She's here and she's beautiful!

Can I start by saying there's no better feeling than when a family loved their maternity photos enough, they want me to photograph their newborn? Immediately coming through the door of their home, I was met with such love and hugs. This is such a warm family, and it truly felt like I was meeting old friends once again.

As I already knew, Maddy and Noah are on it as first-time parents. It is also helpful when you're a NICU nurse. I think my husband would agree because for the most part, I knew what to look for. But it is still uncharted territory being a new parent, and when it comes to having your own, everything feels different in the best and most scary way. Talking with Maddy, I could tell it started out a little rough, which isn't rare, but her attitude towards everything is so awe inspiring. She has the best positive outlook on life, and her positivity radiates into her new role as a parent!

Nora is the SWEETEST teeny thing! (Not so teeny anymore I was told recently!) She was so incredibly sweet and was so snuggly. She definitely liked to be swaddled, seeing as our crib shots were mostly crying crib shots out of the swaddle, haha. Once she was swaddled, she was just looking around, super content in me adjusting her toward the light, or whispering sweet nothings obnoxiously in between me taking her photos. Ugh, she did so well!

Nora's nursery theme is mermaids. I was in love. Maddy did a phenomenal job on everything, and I made sure to get some detailed shots for her memories. Everything about that nursery was so intentional and beautiful. She was even wrapped in a mermaid swaddle. Y'all. The cutest!! I made sure to get a good amount of shots of not just all three of them, but also of Maddy and Noah individually with Nora. I especially love the photos where I had them hold her up to their face; I love the connection it brings through the image. Those are some of my favorites!

We went to the living room as well, and that's where I got to meet the house pets! At least one of the dogs, and the cat who I was able to snap a quick picture of against his will. I was able to get a couple pictures with their dog with the whole family, and I think they turned out so well seeing as we probably weren't going to include him at first! We ended our session in their master bedroom, and I always love these photos as a photographer and as a mom, because it gives the family a more personal photo of them since it's in a room I'm sure they are living in majority of the time during maternity leave!

I left this session feeling so great. I felt that I took photos that captured them as a family, and I also was able to capture their emotion during this special time in their lives. During the session, Maddy asked which type of session I preferred doing: outdoors or indoors. They've experienced it both with me now with this being indoors, and we did their maternity photos outdoors. I told them this is my favorite. Lifestyle sessions, in the comfort of my client's home where they feel more at ease and natural, and where the light is for the most part consistent if I stay in a certain spot for a variety of shots, is by far my favorite type of session. Even though the light can be very tricky in a home, especially in a generally small room or a room with limited window lighting, I feel like the photos still turn out so much more emotional and my clients look more comfortable. I love lifestyle sessions for those reasons alone.

Thank you again, Maddy, for letting me be the one to photograph your sweet family!!
