Danielle

SENIOR SESSION

Thinking on the spot is one skill of a photographer that can be both stress inducing, but also super exhilarating and fun when it works out!

Danielle is graduating next month!! I had the opportunity to take her pictures to celebrate this exciting time! Her mom was the one to contact me primarily, and her and I have something in common: we're both nurses working in similar fields! Danielle and her mom were SO incredibly sweet. Just getting out of their car, Mom immediately told me she was a hugger when she greeted me, and gave me the tightest and warmest hug! I LOVE a hug, especially from sweet and genuine people.

We ended up planning this shoot in less than a week! Super impressive. The only other session I've had with a short span from planning to session was Rachel and Adalyn's Mommy and Me session last year May. You can read about it here! One of the important things I really needed to know in order to plan for this session was the location. Where does Danielle want to have her photos taken? One thing about Mom that I bragged to my own mother and my husband about was that Shantá was on it! She was super responsive, and with every question and email I sent her way, I heard back from her quickly! She told me that Danielle wanted an outdoor location, but did not have one in mind. I suggested maybe the high school she is graduating from and they were sold! It was so exciting for ME as well because I graduated from the same high school about 10 years ago! (Whew! 10 years ago.)

I took my husband and our friends out the day before to scout out some spots, and it felt so nice and nostalgic being back on campus. I hadn't been there in YEARS. I'm glad I did go the day before, because I found where I did not want to take the pictures. I would have wasted so much time if I hadn't. The day of Danielle's photoshoot, I arrived early just to quickly go through what I might could do, and it worked out perfectly!! Thinking on the spot is one skill of a photographer that can be both stress inducing, but also super exhilarating and fun when it works out! We took pictures using the front of the school building, a little area of grass by the road with some trees in the front of the school, and the stadium bleachers. 3 of the 4 places we shot at were not planned, and I think they all turned out so great.

Danielle told me she is graduating as a biology major and she grew up dancing. She wore her University of South Carolina shirt to represent her future university (such an awesome choice!), and she also wore her cap and gown with all of her stoles and cords to showcase her accomplishments at graduation. We love a smart and determined young woman! I cannot reiterate enough how SWEET Danielle and her mom were. They truly made this session so fun, and Danielle made my job so easy! So easygoing when I would have on the spot ideas, and so photogenic. I didn't know what to expect when I got the initial inquiry for a last minute photo session, but they truly made this experience worthwhile!

Enjoy this soon-to-be high school grad's senior session!
